The action will take a while: was/were reading, was/were watching, was/were talking, was/were cycling

(handeling duurt even: aan het lezen, aan het kijken, aan het praten, aan het fietsen, etc.)

The dog was listening.

Hoe maak je de Past Continuous?

Let op: indien het werkwoord eindigt op een “stomme e”
