You can make a compound noun by adding a noun, verb, preposition, adverb or adjective to a noun or verb such as:

- Noun + noun: Alarm clock, film star, classmate, credit card.
- Noun + verb(+er):  Dishwasher,  firefighter, hairdresser.
- Adjective + noun: blackbird, high school, whiteboard.

- Table leg: the leg of the table
- Bedroom ceiling: the ceiling of the bedroom
- Book cover: the cover of the book
- College Principle: the principle of the office
