Een bijvoeglijk naamwoord gebruik je om iets of iemand 

te omschrijven. Een bijvoeglijk naamwoord wordt vaak gevolgd door een zelfstandig naamwoord.

Adverb = bijwoord

Een bijwoord gebruik je om aan te geven HOE iemand iets doet. Een bijwoord omschrijft vaak een werkwoord, maar ook een ander bijwoord, een bijvoeglijk naamwoord of de hele zin.

                                                                                    Mary sings wonderfully.

                                                     My grandparents talk incredibly loudly.

                            I am eating an amazingly delicious steak right now.

                                                         Hopefully, she will call me back later.

Hoe maak je een bijwoord?

Bijvoeglijk naamwoord + LY

IC - ALLY

Y - ILY

funny - funnily

Na deze werkwoorden geen -LY

Sommige bijwoorden worden op een volledig onregelmatige manier gevormd, of blijven hetzelfde.

    Fast - fast (fastly bestaat niet)
    Hard - hard (hardly bestaat wel, maar betekent "nauwelijks" i.p.v. "moeilijk", dus heeft een andere betekenis)
    Early - early
    Late - late (lately bestaat wel, maar betekent "onlangs" i.p.v. "te laat", dus een andere betekenis)
    Fine - fine (finely bestaat niet)
