Simple Past vs. Past Continous

Goals:

I am able to form sentences in both tenses.

Past simple / past continuous

Write a sentence in the past simple using the verb 'go'.

Write a sentence in the past continuous using the verb 'go'.

Past simple

Past continuous

was/were ww+ing

Example:

They were travelling.

She was reading.

'was/waren aan het'.

Pay attention!

• Als twee handelingen na elkaar plaatsvinden, gebruik je twee keer de past simple. 
• Als twee handelingen tegelijkertijd plaatsvinden, gebruik je twee keer de past continuous.
• Als de ene handeling de ander onderbrak, gebruik je de past simple en de past continuous.

Als twee handelingen na elkaar plaatsvinden, gebruik je twee keer de past simple. 

First she did her homework, then she watched a film.
