Conjunctions of time
The words before, after, as, when, while, until, since, are also conjunctions. They tell when something happens, so they are called conjunctions of time.

A preposition refers to a word that is used with a noun or pronoun to show place, position, time or method. 

The fun fair starts before summer.
A conjunction refers to a word that creates a connection between words, clauses or phrases.
