Slide 1 - Diapositive
Lesson goals:
- Explain what electricity is.
- Draw simple circuit diagrams.
Slide 2 - Diapositive
An electric circuit
Electricity only flows in a closed
circuit.
An electric circuit at least has:
- A power source,
- an electrical appliance,
- connecting wires (copper)
Switch off:
If the currecnt is interupted somewhere.
Slide 3 - Diapositive
Current
Current: the ammount of electricity
that flows in a circuit.
The current is the same size
everywhere in a series connection.
you could say that a client pays a powerstation for 'pumping enegry'. Technically they dont make elektricity.
Slide 4 - Diapositive
The circuit diagram
To draw a circuit diagram we use symbols for the various components. Each component has its own symbol.
Slide 5 - Diapositive
Circuit diagram
The symbols are connected
with straight lines.
These straight lines are made
with a geotriangle.
Circuit diagrams are drawn
with a pencil.

Slide 7 - Diapositive
What is actually flowing?
Electrons
These are electrically charged particles
they are very small
When there is lightning and with
a plasma light, you can see the
electrons.

Conclusion
Electricity is the flow of electrons.
For the flow of electricity we need
a power source and a closed circuit.
You draw an electric circuit with a circuit diagram.
A conductor allows an electric curent to pass through and an insulator prevents the flow of current.
