Wanneer alleen Present Perfect
1) Bij dingen die maar één keer gebeurt zijn: John can't walk because he has broken his legs.
2) Bij het woord never: I have never seen this film before.

Wanneer alleen Present Perfect Continuous
1) Bij gewoontes of dingen die meerdere keren gebeurden tot nu toe: Our cat has been getting into trouble recently.
2) Bij dingen die langere tijd bezig zijn geweest: We have been watching this film for hours now.
