Adverbs

Goals

- I know the difference between adjectives and adverbs and how to use / write them

- I have made good progress with my homework

Adjective = bijvoeglijk naamwoord

Adjective goes before a noun (zelfstandig naamwoord)

It tells us something about this noun

De rode auto --> The red car

De snelle auto --> The fast car

De mooie auto --> The pretty car

De rijpe appel --> The ripe apple

Adverb = bijwoord

Adverb (normally) comes after a verb (werkwoord)

It tells us something about the verb

De auto rijdt soepel --> 

The car is driving smoothly

Hij kijkt nerveus -->

He looks nervously

MAAR

Hij ziet er nerveus uit -->

He looks nervous

How to write it?

your adverbs end in -ly

Nervous --> nervously

Easy --> Easily

scientific --> scientifically

terrible --> terribly

Exceptions:

Good --> well

Fast --> fast

All in all it was a ....... experience.

1. horrific
2. horrifically

The kettle boiled .......

1. Hot
2. Hotly

We got a ...... welcome.

1. Warm
2. Warmly

I hope you feel ...... soon!

1. good
2. well

We were happy he told us ....... (eerlijk)

He's a very ...... (lui) person, he does everything ....... (lui)

She could not stand his ...... (eindeloos) complaining.

The ...... (langzaam) turtle won from the ...... (snel) rabbit.
