Skimming a text:

• Look at title - sub title - pictures
• Activate prior knowledge
• Read something quickly and not very carefully
• Read the first (and last sentence) of a paragraph
• Gives you an idea about the text

Reading Strategies

Scanning a text:

• to find particular information: a number, a date, a price, a word

Reading Strategies

Read intensively:

• Read every word to make sure you understand the whole text
