Present simple

Have your notebook and a pen on your table and nothing else.

Fill in:

During the presentation you listen in silence and take notes.

Present simple

verb: base verb (hele werkwoord)

verb for he/she/it: base verb + s

I play

She plays                           SHIT (rule) = she, he, it in short

We play

other verb forms SHIT rule

word ending in -e: + s                 dance --> dances

word ending in -ch: + es:            watch  --> watches

word ending in -sh: + es:            wash -->   washes

word ending in -x: + es:              fix  --> fixes 

word ending in o-: + es:              do --> does

word ending in consonant + -y: + ies.            study = studies

word changes entirely:           have            has

Negations (ontkenningen)

If you want to say something that is not true or isn't right, than you have to use a negative sentence. You have to look at the person before you can use the right form of the verb:

You add 'do not' before the verb: do not like for I/you/we/they

You add 'does not' before the verb : does not like for SHIT

I don't (do not) like vegatables. She doesn't (does not) like vegetables. 

Negations (ontkenningen)

I             don't like       vegetables.

he          doesn't like   vegetables.

she        doesn't like   vegetables.

it            doesn't like   vegetables.

we         don't like       vegetables.

The words can be written separate or together. 

• do not / don't 
• does not / doesn't 

Exceptions (uitzonderingen)

With some words, you use other forms of negations.

To be (am, is are): am not, is not (isn't), are not (aren't)

To can:                  cannot, can't 

I am not 12, I am 13 years old. 

She cannot help me, you can. 

We aren't married, we are boy- and girlfriend. 

Questions (?)

You can also make questions in the present simple. Use: 

Do/Does at the beginning of a sentence. 

Do you know the answer?

Does she know the answer? 

Can I go to the toilet?                   Can she go to the toilet?

Am I too late for class?                 Is she too late for class?
