Understanding different angles such as elevation, over-direction, and cutting line is essential in hair cutting.

Elevation Angle
Elevation angle refers to how high or low the hair is lifted and cut. It determines the weight distribution in the haircut.

Over-direction refers to the direction in which the hair is combed or pulled before cutting. It influences the movement and shape of the hair.

Cutting Line Angle
The cutting line angle is the angle the fingers are held when cutting hair.
 This determines the shape and structure of the haircut, such as one length (blunt), graduated, or layered.
