Life cycle of a butterfly

There are four stages in the life of the butterfly

1. Egg

Butterflies lay their eggs on leaves. 

2. Caterpillar

(Larva)

When the egg hatches it comes out as a caterpillar or larva.

3. Chrysalis

(Pupa)

When the caterpillar is full grown it creates a cocoon called a chrysalis. This is also known as the pupa stage.

4. Adult

When the caterpillar has completely changed a butterfly will come out of the chrysalis.

On a piece of paper use crayons or markers to recreate the life cycle of the butterfly.
