How does this work? 
We have classroom rules, because you all have a right to learn without being disturbed by others. 

Because you were not raised by wolves, most rules will not be a surprise.

What to do? 
- Be prepared for class. Bring books, notebook, pens. 
- Do your homework. 
- Leave  iPads in your bag until told otherwise. Phones aren't ever allowed. 
- Follow instructions
- Pay attention and be quiet during teacher instruction
- Get to work when told to do so. 
- Read instructions in your book before asking what to do
- Be kind
- Speak English as much as you can.

What not to do
- Don't be rude or use foul language 
- Don't make fun of others  
- Keep your hands off other people and their belongings
- Don't play games on your iPad. 
- Don't lie to me - or to yourself

Homework and flex 
- Always bring your book on paper. 
- In class, you work in your book for exercises we do together. For individual work, you choose whether you use book or iPad. 
- Learning goals are in the planner and you will be reminded of them regularly. 
- You are always welcome to join a Flex hour. However, if you do this while not working seriously in regular class, I will be displeased.  I will not hide my displeasure.

Before we watch, turn to page 40 in your books and discuss exercise 5. 
Extra question for discussion: do you think first impressions of people are usually correct? 
You have two minutes to discuss. After that, read the strategy in 6a, and the questions in 6 b and c. You answer these while watching the video. 

Quick discussion; then, do exercises 7 and 8.
