• We use 'the 'with the names of seas/oceans/rivers/desert and groups of islands/mountains---> for example: We went on a cruise on the Nile. Or: We are going to hike in the Himalayas
•  We don't use the with the names of lakes/beaches or single mountains--> for example: Do they do cruises on Lake Victoria?
