To be: negative

• What do we mean with a negative sentence?
• Can you give examples in Dutch?

To form a negative sentence with To Be, we use the word "not" (=niet)

To be: questions

• Maak de volgende zin vragend: "Hij is tien jaar oud"
• Is hij tien jaar oud?
• Wat gebeurt er?
• Is (het werkwoord) komt vooraan te staan. We also do this in English!
• Now try to turn the following sentence into a question: "She is thirteen years old"
• Is she thirteen years old?
