Homework
Do: write 5 have you ever questions per pair.
Look at: the grammar for today

Slide 4 - Diapositive

until 09:07
You had to write 5 have you ever questions for this lesson per pair. We're going to ask each other these questions. You also had to look at the grammar, but we'll see if you did that once we get to that part.

1 min
Have you ever ....
In the next 4 minutes you're going to ask the pair in front of you the questions you came up with.
That pair answers using the same Yes I have or No I have never .... method.
Remember their answers!

In the end there have been 10 questions. And 20 answers.

Slide 5 - Diapositive

until 10:03
2nd goal.
1 min explain,
4 min do
2 min discuss together. (Ask a person for their question, repeat it back to them with a name of one of the opposite pair)

7 min

This ties in perfectly with the grammar, as that is about the present perfect using ever and never.
Grammar: Present perfect with ever/never
What did you write down for your homework?
You had to look at the grammar and write down 1 thing about it.

How did you make your have you ever questions?

Underline or highlight all the present perfect forms on the hand-out. There's 12 of them. Short answers count.

Slide 6 - Diapositive

10 min until 10:13
Ask students what they wrote down about the grammar and that way activate their knowledge.
Also ask them how they made their have you ever questions. What form was it.
Students raise their hand to answer

4 + 4 underlining + 2 discuss = 10 min

Grammar: Present perfect
*We use the present perfect to talk about experiences before now.
I've tried rock climbing
*You make it with have/has + past participle (3rd row irregular verbs or verb +ed)
My sister hasn't slept in a tent before.

Slide 7 - Diapositive

3-4 min until 09:27
1st goal
Student write along with the information on the board. Explain why we use it and how we make it.
Students are quiet and write along.

3-4 min

Grammar: Present perfect with ever/never
*We can use ever in questions to ask if something has 'ever' happened in your life. We use never in answers to say you have 'not ever' done it in your life.
Have you ever tried rock climbing?
No, I've never tried rock climbing
*So ever = present perfect questions. Never = present perfect answers and statements

Slide 8 - Diapositive

3 min until 09:30
Student write along with the information on the board. Explain when we use ever and never.
Students are quiet and write along.

3 min

Grammar: Present perfect with ever/never
*you do not use time expressions (yesterday, last week, etc.) with the present perfect. Only with the past simple.

I walked to school yesterday = past simple
Not I've walked to school yesterday.
I've never walked to school before. = present perfect
Not a specific time, but experiences in general.

Slide 9 - Diapositive
