When you want to compare two things you can use:

as ... as

not as ... as

English is as important as Dutch.

Football is not as important as homework.

as ... as in a sentence:

*          You compare two things that are equal to each other.

                         Ben is as smart as Tom.

*          Signal words:

                          just, same 

Comparative in a sentence:

*          You compare two things that are NOT equal.

*          Use THAN               An elephant is bigger than a Koala.

Superlative in a sentence:

*     Use THE               It's the most wonderful time of the year!

*     You always need a noun after the superlative

                 It was the worst day ever!

                 Nicole is the fastest runner in the game.
