> Another big moment of conflict occured in 1920 called Bloody Sunday
> All of this happened in the name of the War of Independence
> Ireland wanted to be independent from Britain.

Bloody Sunday
You now now more about this terrible day in Irish (and British) history, however, there was another Bloody Sunday in this ongoing conflict. This happened on 30 January 1972.

The Irish band U2 wrote a song about this day and it's one of their most overtly political songs, its lyrics describe the horror felt by an observer of The Troubles in Northern Ireland, mainly focusing on the 1972 Bloody Sunday incident in Derry where British troops shot and killed unarmed civil rights protesters. > Read more about it in the next slide + listen to the song.
