What is figurative language
- Descriptions: people, places, things, emotions, etc
- Way to add "music" to your writing
- Makes everything more vivid to the reader
- Don't need fancy language - just a bit of creativity!

eg. I am so hungry I could eat a horse! 
eg. The fluffy furby fell on his face and was left feeling furious!

- Read the lines of poetry. Slashes represent line breaks. Figure out which technique is being used: simile, metaphor, hyperbole, or personification
