- Engels in het basisonderwijs (Eibo) = vanaf groep 7
- Vervroegd Eibo = vanaf groep 5 of 6
- Vroeg vreemdetalenonderwijs (vvto) = groep 1 (15% in Engels)
- Tweetalig Primair Onderwijs (tpo) = groep 1 (30-50 % in English)

Learning a subject through a second language provides young learners with:
- Exposure to spoken English
- A purpose and context to listen to English and try to speak and understand it
