What kinds of adjectives can we form?
  • Comparative adjectives: to show change or to make comparisons. Here, we use than to compare one thing with another.
    He is taller than me.
  • Superlative adjectives: to describe something as being of the highest degree.
    She is the smartest girl in the school.

How do we form a comparative/superlative?
  • One syllable word [old, long]: we usually add -er and -est.

  • Two or more syllable words [careful, interesting]: we use more and most

How do we form a comparative/superlative?
  • If an adjective ends in -: we add -r and -st.

  • If an adjective ends in a vowel and a consonant [big, fat]: we double the consonant

  • The adjectives good, bad, and far have irregular forms:
