Een bijwoord zegt iets over een werkwoord (HOE iets gebeurt, actie in de zin).

Een werkwoord is iets wat je kunt doen: doewoord.

fietsen - schrijven

praten - kijken

koken - slapen

Bijwoord (adverb)

Madonna sings beautifully.

("beautifully" zegt iets over de manier van zingen.)

The dog ate slowly.

("slowly" zegt iets over de manier van eten)

De meeste bijwoorden worden gevormd door -ly toe te voegen aan het bijvoeglijke naamwoord.
