ACTIVITY: Locating different types of settlement
On the next slide, use Google Maps to navigate. Find a satelite image of a settlement of your choice; this could be in a different county.
In the satelite image, try to locate the following functions of your settlement:
- residential area/suburbs
- commerical area/city centre/shops
- industrial area/factories
- cultural area/ tourism
- transportation (port/roads/train/bus station)
- parks/sport fields

ACTIVITY: Draw your own city
Draw a small scale map of a city from your imagination. Use everything you have learned so far about the types of settlements and what functions and patterns they have. In your map you have at least the following:
- A name for your city
- Different city districts (commercial, residential etc.)
- Different cultual landmarks (churches, museums etc.)
- Different green areas (parks, sport stadium etc.)
- Transport systems (roads, trainstation etc.)
- A legend with symbols/colours
