- At the end of this lesson you have become more comfortable speaking English, because you have talked about each other's free time activities and interests in pairs.

How to make sentences to say what you do in your free time?
There are 3 words you can use: have, go and play

"In my free time..."
... I have fun with friends
... I play football
... I go shopping

How to make sentences to talk about your interests?
You like to do something:

I/you/we/they like... (activity)
he/she/it likes... (activity)

Examples:

I like watching a movie.
He likes rock music.

How to make sentences to talk about your interests?
You don't like to do something:

I/you/we/they don't like ... (activity)
he/she/it doesn't like... (activity)

Examples:

I don't like doing rap music.

She doesn't like ice skating.

You ask someone if he/she likes to do something:

Do I/you/we/they like... (activity)?
Does he/she/it like... (activity)?

Examples:

Do you like playing golf?
Does she like horror movies?

Let's talk
What: have a conversation in pairs about each other's interests and activities you do in your free time. Form sentences in the way we just practised. Use interrogative (vragende), positive (bevestigende) and negative (ontkennende) sentences.
How: In pairs.
Help: the words on page 21 of your Focus 1 Student's book.
Time: 4 minutes.
Result: you have now used the different types of sentences you can use to talk about interests and activities in your free time in a real life conversation.
Finished?: One random pair will give a demonstration, which takes 2 minutes.
