Definition of Past Simple
The past simple tense is used to describe completed actions or states in the past.

Regular Verbs in Past Simple
Irregular verbs: -ed is added. 
walked - partied - tried

irregular verbs, the past simple form changes to something else.

Regular verbs examples:
walk - We walked to school last year. 
live - He lived there when he was younger.

Irregular Verbs in Past Simple
Irregular verbs have unique past simple forms that don't follow a specific pattern. Examples: 

go - went - been: I went to the doctor yesterday.
eat - ate - eaten: She ate a banana during lunch break.
fly - flew - flown: They flew to marocco last summer.

Signal Words for Past Simple
  • yesterday
  • last week
  • ago
  • the day before last Friday
