Past Perfect and Past Simple
De past perfect wordt gebruikt voor de gebeurtenis die het langst geleden is. De past simple wordt daarentegen gebruikt voor de gebeurtenis die minder lang geleden heeft plaatsgevonden.

Voorbeeld:
Sarah had finished her homework (het langst geleden = past perfect), before she went to the movie with her friends (minder lang geleden = past simple).
Mark had cleaned his room (het langst geleden = past perfect), before he went to bed (minder lang geleden = past simple).
Rachel had finished her homework (het langst geleden = past perfect), before she went to the park with her friends (minder lang geleden = past simple).
Tom had done his laundry (het langst geleden = past perfect), before he went to work (minder lang geleden = past simple).
