For word order we need to know the following:

The subject of a sentence (NL: onderwerp)

The verb   (NL: werkwoord)

The object (NL: lijdend voorwerp)

Place and time
Place is always at the end of the sentence.
Eg The dog was chasing the man in the park
Time can be placed at the start or at the end of the sentence.
Last week the dog was chasing the man in the park
The dog was chasing the man in the park last week.
Place always comes before time.

Word order and questions
Questions use a helping verb (hulp ww) at the start of the sentence. 
Examples of helping verbs are: did, could, would, may, might, shall...

Shall I call the dog?
May the dog have a biscuit?
