Some and any

Some and any are used to describe:

Indefinite quantities

(onbepaalde hoeveelheid)

And both of them mean the same:

A number, a few, etc.

For example

I need some eggs.

He doesn't have any eggs.

Do you need any eggs?

Can I have some eggs, please?

So when do we use "some"?

In a regular / positive sentence, we use "some":

"I invited some friends."

"Let's watch some TV."

Sometimes with offers

"Would you like some tea?"

When do we use "any"?

In a negative sentence, when we want to deny something --> we use "any":

"I don't want any balloons at my party."

"We haven't received  any good news this year."

Questions

In a question sentence, when we ask something --> we use "any":

"Do you have any idea how much this table costs?"

"Can she see any of the children?"
