Wat zijn adjectives?

-  Bijvoeglijke naamwoorden

- Zeggen iets over een zelfstandig naamwoord: 

•    the careful driver
•    the angry teacher
•     a beautiful dress

Wat zijn adjectives?

Adjectives gebruik je ook met de volgende werkwoorden: 

be, sound, taste, smell, look, feel  

Dit is omdat je hiermee in feite nog steeds iets over het zelfstandig naamwoord zegt.

• This cookie tastes delicious. (the delicious cookie)
• The teacher  is angry. (the angry teacher)

ADVERBS & ADJECTIVES

Wat zijn adverbs?

Adverbs (bijwoorden) zeggen iets over (alle andere)  werkwoorden of over een ander bijwoord.

• He walks / drives / cycles slowly.  (zegt iets over walks/drives of cycles)
• Beyonce sings beautifully. (zegt iets over sings)
• Beyonce sings really beautifully. (really zegt iets over beautifully)

De vorm van adverbs

Je vormt Adverbs (bijwoorden) als volgt: 

1. Je zet achter het bijvoeglijk naamwoord  -ly. 
Vb. wonderful -- wonderfully 

2. Eindigt het bijvoeglijk naamwoord op -y dan wordt dit-ily. 
Vb. easy -- easily 

3. Eindigt het bijvoeglijk naamwoord op -le dan wordt dit -ly. 
Vb. terrible -- terribly

• 4. Eindigt het bijvoeglijk naamwoord op ic dan wordt dit ically.
  
• Vb. periodic -- periodically

De vorm van adverbs

Sommige bijwoorden hebben geen aparte vorm, maar zijn hetzelfde als het bijvoeglijk naamwoord.

6. Sommige bijwoorden zijn ONREGELMATIG, deze moet je gewoon leren.
