Berlin Conference
The
Berlin Conference
(1884-1885) was held to make sure no conflicts or worse wars would arise between the countries trying to capture Africa.
Africa was
divided
without regard for the interests of the African people.

unification of Germany
in 1871 it got involved with the
'Arms race for Africa'.
In 1888
Wilhem II
ascended the throne.
He enhanced the

ationalism, militarism and modern imperialism
with his idea of
Weltpolitik.

would get in the way of his

and the role he wished to play in Europe.
He allied himself with
