Past simple

Gebruik:

• Gebeurtenissen in het verleden die al afgerond zijn.
  → Staat vaak in de zin wanneer afgerond (signaalwoord)

I played tennis yesterday

• Signaalwoorde zijn bv: last week, yesterday, in 1999...

Gebruik:

• Niet duidelijk wanneer in het verleden het gebeurd is.

• Gebeurtenis in verleden begonnen → nu nog steeds bezig!
• Merkbaar resultaat van de actie.

Past simple vs. Present perfect

Past simple:

• Gebeurtenis in het verleden die voorbij is.

→ signaalwoord in de zin zoals: yesterday, this morning, etc.

Present perfect:

• Gebeurtenis in het verleden begonnen en nu nog bezig.
• Gebeurtenis in het verleden, met een resultaat dat nu nog merkbaar is.

She has played volleyball for seven years.
Ze speelt al zeven jaar volleybal.
