Clear structure - beginning middle and end (clear plot)
Describe the character what do they look like? What sort of person are they?
Describe the setting - where/when does this story happen?

Quotation mark rules
Rule 1: Use quotation marks to show what characters say.
e.g: "Help me!" exclaimed the little girl

Rule 2: Punctuation stays in the quotation marks.
He said, "this is the worst day of my life!" after hearing the holiday was cancelled.

Rule 3: Start a new line for each new person that speaks. 
Make clear who is speaking.
