Geven aan dat je in de richting van iets beweegt:

I walk to school every morning.

To = Naar

After = Achterna

Towards = naar...toe

They told us to move away from the fire.

From = van

Out of = uit

Off = van...af

Across = naar de overkant

Around = om...heen

Over= overheen

Past = voorbij

Through = door

Along= langs

Alongside= gelijk op met

Down= naar beneden

Into= in

Onto= op

Round= rond

Up= omhoog

Deze drie vormen gebruik je als iets ook niet voor jou geldt. Het onderwerp en de persoonsvorm verwisselen van plek. 

- I don't think he can hold his breath for a minute.
- I don't think so either / neither do I / Nor do I

Ik denk dat ook niet. 

*Not bij het werkwoord (DO) en either achteraan.
