Roman wealth
  • The Romans took over large parts of Europe.
  • Brought wealth, thanks to trade and stability.
  • A period of 200 years where there was hardly any war:
  • Pax Romana
  • Pax = Peace; Romana = Roman

  • Ended around 180 AD
  • Cause:
  • Less stability due to a new Emperor: Commodus 
  • Effect:
  • More Germanic tribes started attacking the Roman borders
