For literature, we'll be making use of a website containing all information you need to understand the material and to be able to prepare for your test.

Old English
The first literary work we'll work on is Beowulf.

Beowulf was written in Old English. As you will see, this is very different from Modern English. You will not have to understand the language, as everything is translated into Modern English. 

An example of Beowulf as read out in Old English can be found in the following video.

Let's begin by reading on the website. 

  • Please take 'Sutton Hoo' in front of you. 
  • Now, please take 'King Alfred' in front of you.
