Label the hydrophilic heads and the hydrophobic tails.

Slide 4 - Diapositive

Slide 5 - Diapositive

Take one piece of pasta and lay it in between your second and third Q-tip. Then take a second piece of pasta and lay it in between your sixth and seventh Qtips.  Label these transport protein channels.

Slide 6 - Diapositive

Slide 7 - Diapositive

Take your lentils and place 7 pieces on top of the Qtip line and 3 pieces below the Qtip line.
Label the top "outside the cell" and the bottom "inside the cell"

Slide 8 - Diapositive

Diffuse the lentils across the membrane until equilibrium is reached.

Slide 10 - Diapositive

Slide 11 - Diapositive

Move your lentils so there are 5 on either side of the cell membrane line.
Add 3 chickpeas outside the cell and 7 pieces inside the cell.  Since the chickpeas are larger, they can only move through the protein channels.
Use facilitated diffusion to create an equilibrium.
