Did you know?
There are a lot of cities with Dutch names in South Africa. 17th-century Dutch colonists spoke the language which later became Afrikaans, a language with Dutch-sounding words.
The most infamous is apartheid, which refers to a system of racial segregation. Apartheid was abolished in the early 1990s and the famous activist Nelson Mandela became South Africa's first black president in 1994.
