What methods are used now to apply for jobs

  • This can be carried out by uploading a CV to a recruitment site.
  • By sending a CV to a company/organisation for a direct job or just to inform the company about the candidate (speculative application)

Similar to a CV in terms of the information required however this is designed by the potential employer.

  • Not used so much with today’s technology available however, it includes the same type of information as a CV or Application Form but with the addition of the applicant’s skills and capabilities for the job.

There are also specific online applications that can help you build up your network, such as Linkedin and other social media where you can join networking groups.

This can often provide the means of getting into a company resulting in a permanent job after the apprenticeship ends.

  • A lot of companies have a job section on their website
  • Register your details and then you complete an application online, using the job description, person specification and the information you have collated about yourself.

Recruitment companies

  • Recruitment agencies will ask you for a CV and some will invite you in to meet them and to discuss what it is you’re looking for, they may also require you to carry out some tests, this enables them to assess your skill set and suitability for job roles.  
  • Great way for them to meet you and to give you any advice and guidance you may need prior to them putting you forward to their clients.
