Before Islam:
  1. Nomadic People called Bedouins.
  2. Trading routes to Europe.
  3. A few large cities. 
  4. Many Gods.

  1. Born around 570.
  2. Belonged to the Quraysh tribe.
  3. He was born into a wealthy trading family in Mecca.
  4. The Quraysh were caretakers of the Ka'aba.

Hijrah and return to Mecca.
  1. In 622 Muhammad fled to Medina. This is called the Hijrah.
  2. He was successful as a militairy leader and united tribes.
  3.  In 630 he had 10.000 followers so he could return to Mecca.
  4. By the time of his passing in 632 Muhammad united all Arabic tribes.
