THE POSSESSIVE S

We use the possessive S after names of people and animals

single noun

Her dress is nice.
My sister's dress is nice.

His bike is new.
My brother's bike is new.

plural nouns

Their dresses are nice.
My sisters' dresses are nice.

Their bikes are new.
My brothers'  bikes are new.

plural nouns without 's'

Their class is nice.
The children's class is nice.

The possessive of

We use OF to show possession for objects
e.g. house, door, car

possessive of

The house has a leaking roof.
The roof of the house leaks.

Our car is blue.
The colour of our car is blue
