How did Rome grow from a small city- state into a world empire?

From village to Empire

Eighth century BC Rome was a small settlement in a marshy area where farmers and tradesmenn lived

Because of position along the Tiber -> Many traderoutes

Etruscans helped Roman people to make Rome into a City- state.

Rome as a world power

Romans expanded their power across Italy in 4th and 3rd centuries BC.

When they conquered Italy -> Punic wars against Carthage => Carthage was burned to the ground.

After Punic was Rome expanded conquering Hellenistic kingdoms => Roman professional army.
