Tyrell's family

Tyrone (dad): 3rd time in jail, selling drugs, liquor, pimping, throwing illegal parties. 

Mum Lisa; dependent, on probation for welfare fraud, not a good role model, expects T. to fix their problems   

little brother Troy in special ed (for money), spent some time in foster care with T, family got back together, but now evicted from appartment

Tyrell's conflict

Tyrell: needs money to helps his family get the appartment back, cause they're homeless now and living in a roach-infested Bennet motel

He wants to use his dad's equipment to make money, throwing a party for kids (but a 'cleaner' version, without drugs etc.) with help from shady dudes.

Dante ('friend') is helping out, is after Ty's mum and has the equipment, so he needs to get it back first.

Tyrell still messing with both Novisha and Jasmine. wants to take N.'s virginity to get her hooked on him.

Tyrell's girls (conflict)

Tyrell is messing with both Novisha  and Jasmine. 

Novisha: caring, ambitious, doesn't want to give up virginity, still in school,, active in church (charity) and wants to go to college. Embarrassed of T, because he's not in school at the moment.

Jasmine: also homeless, can relate to T.'s problems, promiscuous, she wants him to go to her school for troubled youths. Helps organise party.

Tyrell's views on future /relationships

"All I wanna do is take care of her and be her man. I love her. What I don’t

get is why she keep pushing me away from her." (Tyrell)

“Let me school you, Ty,” my pops told me that night. “My whole thing is

respect. I don’t got no respect for a man that be beating his wife all the time forno reason. But I don’t got no respect for a man that never beat his wife neither,

‘cause every now and then a man gotta show a woman who running things. He

need to get her respect. (To Tyrell, this  attitude makes  'kinda' sense)

 I ain’t saying it’s right, but sometimes a brotha gotta keep shit to hisself. But what a female need to keep secrets for?

There ain’t no reason for that. Never. (Tyrell applying double standards, as he keeps secrets from Novisha as well!)

Will the party be a success? Will T choose between Novisha and Jasmine? Will T leave Bennett?

*Novisha and her Catholic school friends turn up, people are dancing, Jasmine gives a show, Leon is  pimping girls, Novisha is being bothered by her stalker, Jamal and Tyrell fights him. She appears to be no virgin, has had sex with Jamal, Ty feels he's been played. Novisha leaves with her girlfriends.

Tyrell ending

*Ty successfully starts playing old-skool rap, making other people interested in him as DJ. Bus depot is messed up, but he has earned  a decent amount of money from the party.

*Ty dances with Jasmine and they kiss. Emiliano wants her to live with him as his girlfriend.

*After a call from mr. Mendoza, Troy will be placed in the custody of the New York City Administration for Children’s Services cause he was left alone (again), while mum was with Dante. *Mum wants Ty to take the blame, Ty refuses and  leaves the motel.

*Tyrell still loves Novisha, but doesn't trust her

*T. will stay at Cal's appartment, takes Jasmine with him. He feels good going back to the projects and working as a DJ.

*Jasmine will live with Emiliano, T. warns her she doesn't have to sleep with him if she doesn't want to and they will stay friends.  SEQUEL: BRONXWOOD
