§6.4 Making formulas for graphs

This subject, MAKING FORMULAS yourself, is sometimes found the most difficult of the whole chapter.

However the book gives us a clear strategy how to do this.

In this LessonUp we will use this clear strategy, of course.

So pay attention well!

First of all...

Take the usual materials before you:

+ Notebook, Textbook

+ Pen, pencil, geo triangle

+ Because we are going to do the first homework exercise 25, p.218 now!

Exercise 25 we make together, now.

+ Think hard about every question.

+ Everyone may get the turn to give the answer.

+ Write down the correct result in your Notebook. 

Chance decides who gives the answer

to this question.

Finally we all write down the correct answer.

So, ........., what is your answer to 25a?

answer to 25a:

The graph starts at (0,0)  or  the origin.

(That's the same.)

Now write down this answer in your Notebook.

At question c, 

a short Calculation is needed!

So, ..........., tell us how to calculate

the answer.

Now question d.

Use the answer(s) we already have.

......., what is your answer?

answer 25d:

The formula becomes:

'length x 0.80 = price'

So ' 0.80 ' had to be filled in.

Suppose you don't have a Formula.

You only have a Graph.

How to make the Formula now? See next slides.

Exercise 28 ......

+  You're going to do right now, in your Notebook.

+ When finished, take a pic of your work and send it in in the next slide!

+  Keep the Textbook, p.218/219 opened,

+  for following the 4 steps Method, we just discussed.

+  So write down all 4 steps, not just the answer! 

+ If you are finished quickly, then do 28b and c.

+ here's the exercise, 

 that is also in your book, 

 of course.

+ now we go back one slide, 

  because there's the Timer and the

  Instruction.
