an introduction to our trip

When?

19-22 April

Tuesday after Easter

Boat

We'll cross the North Sea from Hook of Holland.

The crossing will be longer, but the bus ride is shorter.

Stay

We will be in a hostel for three nights. The hostel is located close to the city centre and an Underground station.

Assignment

While in London, you are going to finish a project that we start working on at school.

Of course, you'll have spare time there, too.

All further details about the programme will follow later (because nothing is set in stone yet).

Why did you answer the way you did on the previous slide?

Research with a group: 15 minutes

1. Get into groups of 2-3 students. 
   
2. Pick an interesting topic from the video
   
3. Research that topic online and find minimum 5 pieces of information 
   
4. Collect your information and some visual aides on a Powerpoint or LessonUp slide. Be prepared to share your findings in English with the class! (1-2 minutes) 

Tip: search news articles, social media, YouTube, travel blogs, and tourism websites to get started. 

Possible topics: 

- restaurants and food scene

- royalty and royal family proceedings

- diversity and demographics (“The world in one city” / “melting pot”)

- Typical London things (telephone booths, double decker buses, black cabs, etc)

- architecture and famous landmarks

- religious history, role of church in London life

- shopping, fashion, and lifestyle

...or anything else you can think of that interests you! Possible options include music industry, London celebrities, geographic location, history, football clubs, modern life, etc. 

If you have another idea, raise your hand and ask your teacher.

Sharing!

Each group will have 1-2 minutes to share what they found out about their topic. They may connect one laptop to the projector so the class can see what they have found.
