What are we going to learn today?
Today we are going to learn:
What muscles consist of.
How muscles work.
What kind of muscle tissues there are.

Slide 2 - Diapositive

Muscular system
To move, we don't only need synovial joints, but we also need muscles to move the bones. Muscles are connect with your bones by tendons, and they work by pulling a certain bone. Muscles can only pull a bone, so not push a bone.

Slide 4 - Diapositive

Antagonistic pair
As previously mentioned, muscles can only pull, and not push. That's why at least 2 muscles work together to enable a full movement. These are called antagonistic muscle pairs

Slide 6 - Vidéo

Involuntary muscles
Muscles that are connecter to your bones are part of the muscular system. However, there are also a lot of muscles in other organs. These muscles move involuntarily. Can you name a example of one?

Slide 7 - Diapositive

Muscle tissue
Depending on where you find certain muscle tissue, it can be build up differently.
Skeletal tissue: Very long and striped
Smooth muscle (involuntary): Looks less organised
Cardiac tissue: Is found in the heart, looks like a combination of the top two

Slide 8 - Diapositive

Muscle fibers
Skeletal muscles consists of two types of muscle fibers: fast-twitch and slow-twitch fibers.
Fast-twitch fibers work very quickly but are easily tired, whereas slow-twitch fibers need some time to work, but are not easily tired.
