Guanabara Bay
The first Natural Wonder we will be looking at is Guanabara Bay. 

Guanabara Bay is an oceanic bay located in Southeast Brazil in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Roman Catholicism prevails as the biggest religion in Brazil, followed by other types of Christianity.

Christianity is focussed on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, who Christians believe to be the Son of God. 

Jesus was born in Bethlehem in the Middle East over 2,000 years ago.

Christians model themselves on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Jesus taught people to love God and love their neighbour.Christians believe that God sent Jesus to live as a human being in order to save humanity from the consequences of its sins. Sins are the bad things humanity had chosen to do which had separated them from God.

The Christian holy book is the Bible. It is divided into the Old and New Testaments.

The Old Testament is the first division of the Christian Bible. It is a collection of books which varies from church to church and dates earlier than the New Testament.

The New Testament explains how God sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to restore the broken relationship between people and God which had been caused by human wrong-doing.

Guanabara Bay
Guanabara Bay is an oceanic bay located in Southeast Brazil in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

There is a statue that looks out over the bay called Christ the Redeemer. 

It was originally built as a symbol of Brazilian Christianity.

The Christ the Redeemer statue is over 30m tall. 
It has an arm span (the distance from arm to arm) of 28 metres!
The statue was built with materials from Sweden!
Approximately 1.8 million people visit the statue every year.
Construction of the statue began in 1922 and it was completed in 1931. It took 9 years to build!
The statue was made in pieces and had to be carried to the top of the mountain in order to be put together.
