What is a paragraph?
A paragraph is a group of sentences that talks about a single topic or idea. It helps a writer organize his/her thoughts when writing and helps a reader follow through on a given topic.

An effective paragraph...
• has a topic sentence that tells the main idea of the paragraph;
• has supporting sentences that give further details and specific examples about the topic sentence;
• is logical or has a coherent thought, and
• has a concluding sentence that wraps up all the ideas discussed.
