Je gebruikt 'used to' om:

- dat iets in het verleden regelmatig gebeurde (dus een gewoonte was), maar nu niet meer;

- dat iets in het verleden zo was, maar nu niet meer zo is.

In het Nederlands zeggen we 'vroeger'

Hoe zeg je dat je vroeger op voetbal zat?

1. I was a member of the football club.
2. I used to be a member of the footbal club.
3. I have always been a member of the football club.

Used to: hele werkwoord!
