In this lesson you will answer some questions about the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Then you answer a number of listening fragments with the theme Variation.

To remember:

• Motif - a small piece of music [melody or rhythm] that often appears in a piece of music.
  
• Variation - Changing a motif in such a way that the original remains recognizable.

Listen

In the next assignment you will listen to three fragments of film music: from James Bond (007), Baantjer and Pink Panther. They are fragments in which motifs and variations play a role.

Listen to the first 35 seconds
of the James Bond theme.
It contains the following three motifs. In what order do you hear them?

What motif do you hear in the accompaniment?

Which motif is most recognizable to the person of mr. James Bond ?
