Introduction: special holidays

Last Friday's reading: what holiday did you like most?

Today: April 2nd = International Children's book day.

What is/was your favourite book?

Children's book day

Why: it's the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen

Who:  the International Board of Books for Young People

How:  They invite a writer of a certain country to write a message for children and an illustrator to make a poster.

What else: writing contests, book awards, meetings with writers.

- Today : jullie gaan aan het werk in groepjes van 4

- Elke groep onderzoekt speciale feestdagen (special holidays) overal ter wereld, kiest er eentje uit en probeert alles er over te weten te komen.

- End of lesson: tell us what you found out.

Getting started

3. Start research (10 minutes) and choose a holiday.
